Hello There!

My name is Richard and thank you for visiting.

I have loved photography ever since I knew what a camera was. I guess it was the idea that I could capture a moment in time and keep it forever. Something about that interested me and I enjoyed taking disposable cameras and taking pictures of the most random moments, but I always loved taking pictures of the morning. Seeing the light of the morning always drew me in. As I grew up my hobby always stayed with me but I moved on thinking about my future and I ended up studying for a future in Journalism. That is until I had to take a Photo Journalism class one of my semesters. That was my last semester pursuing a Journalism degree.

I went to the College of Southern Nevada pursuing a Commercial Photography degree and I learned all the technical aspects of capturing light in a photograph, and I can say if there was anything I was good at, that was it. Now as much fun as I had with photography in the studio I was always going and chasing the light as I would call it, you would call it Landscape Photography. I still loved capturing the morning light and as I grew in my skills I learned more about film, different cameras, and how I can use diffract aspects of the process to make a photograph. I felt that MAKING a photograph was completely different from just capturing a photograph.

That was then when I knew I was on the next phase of my journey in photography. I wanted to be an artist…

I graduated from University of Nevada Las Vegas and received a Bachelors in Fine Arts with a concentration in photographic studio practice.

I learned how to combine the complex ideas and feeling intertwined in art with the photographic process to make a body of work I am very proud of. I became well versed in the language of art and enjoyed creating work. I have traveled around in the time I have been granted and I have settled currently back in Nevada. Something about this desert life still keeps drawing me in but I still travel any chance I get.

When I’m not creating art, I’m chasing the light and this is what I wanted to share with you all.

I hope you enjoy…
